Did you know that only 4% of college aged people think that spiritual growth should be a priority in their life? Well guess what, spiritual growth happens. It happens in the shower, it happens when we eat and shop and study. It happens when we pray. And it even happens when we don't. It happens. And when it does, it will either be something that is good and helpful to you, your friends, your family, your community, and even your world... or it won't. The choice is yours.

Mondays at 7:30pm - A new Spiritual Growth group. First meeting is tonight in Pastor Shawn's office at The Foundation. Next week only: the group will meet at 7:45

BIBLE STUDIES on Cool Topics and Interesting People
Monday - I Corinthians: A church at the crossroads of the known world dealing with gangs, sex, hallucinatory visions, and trying to make sense out of Jesus' message while speaking Greek...

Tuesday - Ecclesiastes. Who knows what that word means? Is it plural for ecclesiast? If so, what's an "ecclesiast" and why do we need more than one of them?

Wednesday - Famous (and some infamous) characters from the Hebrew scriptures

Note: All Bible studies meet at The Found at 7pm

Tuesday at 8:00pm in Loeb. Come here Dr. Francis Collins, director of the National Human Genome Research Institute, speak on "The Language of God" (This event is a Sigma Xi Public Lecture)

PRAXIS - Thursday at a new time, 8:00pm. This week we deal with the stuff no one knows about. You know, the stuff we keep inside. Some of it is small stuff, some is really big. How long should we keep it to ourselves? What happens if we actually deal with it? Can we make it worse? What happens if we don't? And if we don't deal with it, well, it's not going to just go away...
Rob Bell asks in the NOOMA video Lump, "Do you have people around you that could never do anything to make you love them less?" You probably do. And God feels that way about you, too. Always has. Always will. Come and watch Lump. And begin thinking about what it really means to be experience God's unconditional, never ending love.

Coming next week ...
Sunday, our guest speaking in worship will be Ryan Bailey. Ryan is a past BSF president (03-04) and currently a student at Fuller Theological Seminary. Ryan is a great speaker so if you like napping during the sermon, don't bother coming.

Also on Sunday, it's the BSF Annual Academy Awards Party. Put on your finest glitz and bling (the Goodwill store is a great place to shop for this kind of stuff...) and get ready for a red-carpet evening. The dinner (potluck) and program begins at 7:30 and the actual Awards ceremony starts at 8:30. Name your potluck dish in honor of an Oscar nominee, come dressed like a Star, and pick the Oscar winners. Prizes at the party include theater tickets!

In spite of warnings from the NFL, numerous Super Duper Bowl watching parties were held this past weekend and it was no dud if you were a Colts fan. The Colts cruised to victory no matter whose party you attended. The commercials were mostly so-so ...

More on "Hearing God." This week we look at some popular (but misconceived and misguided) ideas about knowing God's will and refine how tell God's voice from the oh-so-many other voices that call us.

FRIDAY, FEB 9
Join us at that famous french restaurant Chick-fil-a (on SR 26 in Lafayette) between 5-8 for fun, food, prizes and fund raising. Mention The Baptist Student Foundation and the chic people at Chick will give 20% of the take for our spring break mission trip fund. (We're going to Rainbow Acres, a big home on an Arizona "ranch" for adults with mental and physical disabilities, in March.) Nuggett eating contest teams are forming now. Contact The Found (bfound@verizon.net) for details.

and don't forget - as always we will worship together this Sunday at 10am.

Coming Soon - Help us welcome Glen Chapman, a missionary to Africa, to The Found on February 17-18. Glen has made the good news seem very real by using the gospel message to transform local economies, solve transortation issues, and literally release captives to live a new and abundant life ...
